BAKING & A Christmas Giveaway!

I'm in the midst of rounding up recipes for my yearly Holiday Baking Extravaganza. You all know {if you have been reading my blog for a while} that this part of the season is my FAVORITE because I l o v e to bake. Well I actually just love to cook in general.

Every year about this time I start to gather new recipes. I bake mini cakes, cookies, sweet rolls, whatever...you name it.

It all started about....maybe four years ago. My nanny and I started baking together for the holidays and we would make goodie baskets for friends and family. We love to spread the cheer! Two years ago, I was working at a printing company out of birmingham...LONG LONG LONG hours and LATE nights. So I was baking alone into the wee hours of the morning. By far, my least favorite year of baking. I put as much love into it as I burned out workaholic could be. Last year, I had the nice help of Mrs. Mary Mac Adams herself who is a GENIUS is the kitchen. This year will be my F I R S T Christmas to bake away in my very own kitchen. It will be so fun and so interesting.

First FUN weekend of June...{my birthday month}

Happy Monday to you my friend!

I had a fun weekend in Huntsville with Frances. We went to stay at her Boys.

We worked worked worked until our hearts were content.

On Saturday we went to an amazing a m a z i n g wedding dress shop in Huntsville called White Dresses. There selection was to die for. And of COURSE my favorite dress was a stunning Marchesa. Go figure!

No no this wasn't the Marchesa, BUT it was the dress in the mane window and I loved how unique the stripes were....and you know me and stripes.

Later on Saturday we went shopping for random stuff. BUT we ended up going to this random restaurant...kind of on a whim. It was called Rolos Cafe.

OH MY LORD it was delicious and I can't wait to go back!

I got a side salad and homemade veggie soup! I forgot to snag a pic of the soup before I ate it! oopsy! Frances had the Cobb Salad! 

The croutons...perfect! And believe me I know a good crouton!

We ended Saturday with a movie! We watched side effect and it was such such SUCH a great movie.

That was my Saturday in a nutshell. SO much fun!

weekend snappies

Here's a quick rundown of the fun photos.

1. My life long friend Mattie B cooked me dinner Friday. We haven't had a chance to hang out in a good while. We usually just have quick phone convos once every other week about our love lives (or lack there of in my case). So Friday it was nice to hangout for a while and catchup actually in person rather than a five minute phone convo. 

2. Mattie B again. Thanks for dinner and COFFEE!!!!

3. CAN I SAY LOVE. So one of my other LIFE LONG friends Heather (or Spencer Lee-Lee as I like to call her) was in town from Cali. I HATE HATE HATE her living all the way across the freaking country. It's not okay. Why? Because her precious baby boy is growing like a weed and I'm having to miss it all. That's seriously NOT okay with me at all. One weekend while Heather was in town and pregnant with Jude, I kept that sweet baby fueled up with so much pineapple I'm surprised heathers face didn't have a yellowish glow. Anyway, I had lunch with Heather, Jude, her hubs, and her sister Brittany. It was SO great seeing Spencer Lee Lee. Jude is p r e c i o u s and I want yall back here....in bama. ASAP

4. NINJA JUDE! 

5 Today was little Katie Bugs Birthday party!!! It was a fun time. I got her the cute little kitty in the photo. You doodle on the kitty then you can wash it in the washing machine and its a brand new canvas for little bug to draw all over again!

6. Birthday Girl again!!!!

7. Tonight my friend Erica, who will be competing in the Miss Alabama Pageant in June, had a fun practice night for her talent and HUGE group of kiddies all came out to watch and support her! FUN night.

Psi Psi Psi!!!

Hi hi hi.

As you all know...about 3 months ago, I made the venture back to Florence, Alabama to take a job working at Psi [[Printers & Stationers, Inc.]] Also, as you all know I am l o v i n g it. It's a blast. I love the amazing family I live with, I love having the best friend not two hours away, everyone at Psi is awesome and I love being back in Florence!

Creative Share: Pretty Pretty Pillows

Every single Lovely Wednesday

CREATIVE SHARE WEDNESDAY

It's such a BLAST, and I learn so much!

In a previous post, I mentioned that I had been working on some cute little pillows

SO,

I thought I would share with you the very simple process I used to cover the pillows that I was using!

EASY EASY EASY way to cover

First, 

Measure the pillow you are covering horizontally, and vertically.

Add one inch

to each sides measurement.

[My pillows were 7in x 7in, therefore adding the one inch makes the measurement I need 8 inches]

Measure TWO 8in x8in pieces of fabric and cut them out.

Turn the pieces of fabric together where their patterned sides are face to face

Now pin these pieces together

Next, Sew a 1/2 inch seam down each side, leaving one side with an opening

[like the image below]

Snip the very corners of the covering, so that it creates nice corners after you stuff the cover with the pillow.

Turn the covering right side in, then iron!

 It is VERY important to Iron down the seams. This sets the seams, and makes a better appearance.

So, although it doesn't seem like this step would be important, It actually REALLY REALLY is.

Stuff the covering with the pillow, 

then close up the opening by using a slip stitch method.

Slip stitching is SUPER simple, and quick.
